Communication Champs

Communication encompasses a big part of our everyday lives – we use it during our interactions with others in school, at work and so on. When we are unable to articulate our thoughts, feelings and ideas effectively to others, misunderstandings and conflicts may consequently arise, potentially affecting our interpersonal relationships and our overall well-being in the long run.

In addition to developing our verbal communication skills, learning to employ non-verbal cues appropriately in different situations also plays an important role in facilitating our communication with others. Developing good verbal and non-verbal communication skills can in turn enhance our leadership potential – since communication is a key aspect of being a successful leader.

As such, Communication Champs seeks to inculcate useful communication skills in children aged 9-12 years to foster their development into effective communicators and strong leaders of the future. Through this 1-day workshop, children will learn all about what constitutes effective communication and why it is important. They will also be taught skills such as using verbal and non-verbal communication in order to better convey their emotions and ideas.

Topics covered:

  • What is communication?
  • What constitutes effective communication?
  • Why is effective communication useful and important to us?
  • Using effective verbal and non-verbal cues
  • Building confidence for effective communication
  • Effective communication and leadership
  • Stress relief techniques for effective communication

Stress Busters

Stress is an inevitable part of life and it can be induced by almost any event. Although small amounts of stress help to motivate and push us to improve, it is important to be able to recognise when the amount of stress induced becomes overbearing. When this happens, being able to recognise and manage stress is essential for all of us to have.

Stress Busters is a 2-day workshop specially designed to inculcate proper stress management techniques in children aged 9-12 years. Through this workshop, we aim to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to understand and identify stresses, coping techniques and long-term stress management strategies. By providing participants with these capabilities at an early age, we believe that they will be able to cultivate emotional awareness and problem-solving abilities, to grow into strong and resilient individuals.

To foster their development to becoming strong and resilient individuals, this 2-day workshop aims to teach children:

  • What is stress?
  • How to identify when stress becomes overbearing?
  • Why is it important to deal with stress properly?
  • Common causes of stress in children & how to cope
  • Stress management techniques

Thrive Psychology December WorkshopsMighty Mindfulness

Mindfulness can help to reduce anxiety and increase happiness. In the long run, children equipped with mindfulness habits and practices can better manage stress and anxiety, and regulate their emotions – in turn enhancing their overall performance in life. It can also help to improve social skills as the attention to others’ well-being increases. This simple practice of bringing a gentle, accepting attitude to the present moment can help children become a better friend, a better student, and a better role model for others.

Mighty Mindfulness is a 1-day programme specially for children aged 7 to 9 years old, which seeks to educate children on the benefits of mindfulness through the use of various breathing and awareness techniques. By endowing participants with mindfulness techniques at a young age, we seek to improve their overall cognitive ability and quality of life.

  • What is mindfulness?
  • Why should we practice mindfulness?
  • When can we use mindfulness?
  • Techniques in mindfulness practice
  • Mindfulness and happiness
