Zulaiha Burvin is a placement counsellor at Thrive Psychology Clinic. She is currently doing her Master’s in Counselling at Monash University. In her years of interacting with people, she felt that there is more to helping people than just listening to what they say. Zulaiha was deeply interested in paying attention to a person’s habits, behaviour and emotions; and felt more could be done on her part to know someone. Zulaiha’s interest led her to obtain a degree in Bachelor of Arts (Childhood Studies and guidance and counselling), and now, following up with the Master’s program.
More often than not, people in this fast-paced society forget to pay attention to themselves and tend to get immersed in playing their role as a family member, an employee, and contributing to the economy. It is very important to note that resilience can be made possible with a proper support system. As a counsellor, Zulaiha wants to be part of the support system that contributes to the betterment of lives out there with the appropriate skillset. She finds it thrilling to learn how people discover themselves and feel empowered through counselling sessions and see life from a different perspective.
